Insider Technologies (ITL) have been designing, developing, testing and maintaining HP NonStop (Tandem) application software since 1989 (including TAL, pTAL, TACL macros, COBOL85, C, C++, NonStop SQL, Guardian and Pathway programming and application development). This even includes our own HP NonStop Tandem products:
• MultiBatch – HP NonStop batch job scheduling software developed in TAL, COBOL85, SCOBOL, C++ (Graphical User Interface) and TACL macros accessing job schedule data from an Enscribe database. The application is NonStop and check pointed for failover (in the case of a hardware or software failure) and a large number of the modules run as Pathway servers.
• Reflex – Comprehensive HP NonStop monitoring (including BASE24 Classic XPNET), automation and escalation software consisting of NonStop code and Pathway servers with $RECEIVE processing developed in TAL, COBOL85, SCOBOL, C, C++ (GUI also), NonStop SQL and TACL macros. The Reflex database consists of both TMF audited Enscribe files and NonStop SQL tables / indexes. Reflex also enables programmatic interaction with the BASE24 Classic XPNET SERVER-NCP (NCPCOM) Pathway server to provide configuration, status and statistics information for XPNET components; stations, lines, links, processes, devices and nodes.
• RTLX Reactor – Real-Time Log Extraction and monitoring product for both TLF (ATM) and PTLF (POS) BASE24 transaction files. The HP NonStop deployed code is developed in C, C++, C# (web browser access) and TAL and relays BASE24 transaction and settlement data across TCP/IP to a Windows Server, populating an SQL Server database. The product is highly extensible to cater for other file formats as required.
ITL have HP NonStop Tandem nodes in-house for software development and maintenance and/or NonStop software can be developed and supported using secured remote logon to customer nominated systems. This can help in reducing project costs typically associated with placing HP NonStop staff on-site for extended periods, e.g. hotel and travelling expenses.
The ITL team - Core HP NonStop Tandem code development, maintenance and third-party software support skills include:
- Transaction Application Language - TAL (including pTAL)
- Pathway programming with $RECEIVE and LINKMON considerations plus start-up / shut down file configuration
- Tandem Advanced Command Language – TACL macros – also embedded NonStop SQL script
- NonStop SQL (SQL/MP) including embedded SQL programming (e.g. SQL cursors)
- NonStop C
- NonStop C++
- Enscribe files and NonStop SQL tables / indexes with full FUP, DDL, TMF audit, partition, locking and performance considerations
- COBOL85 and Screen COBOL (SCOBOL)
- Guardian Common Run-Time Environment (CRE)
- Debugging and Testing
- Conversion of legacy code to Native mode objects, i.e. code 700 / 800
- Conversion of legacy code to enable HighPin processes
- Conversion of legacy code to more common, portable languages, e.g. C / C++
- Conversion of legacy code to the OSS (Open System Services) POSIX personality
- Third-party code libraries for BIND requirements
- Use of low level system APIs, e.g. SPI (Subsystem Programmatic Interface), Measure, EMS, TCP/IP etc.
- BASE24 Classic XPNET Network Control Point (NCP, NCPCOM and server-NCP) API coding for Pathsend SERVERCLASS_SEND $RECEIVE Pathway interaction
Early NonStop code development and support took place on VLX and CLX hardware. ITL have maintained NonStop software and upgraded code through the various evolutions of Tandem hardware and Guardian operating systems; K-series, S-series (ServetNet) and todays NonStop Integrity and Blade systems.
ITL have also successfully completed HP NonStop Blade accreditation tests at the HP offices in Wood Street, London, for a number of our NonStop products.
HP NonStop Tandem software development, integration and testing are carried out in-house on our own NonStop systems. These systems are maintained and system managed in line with customer O/S versions by our own NonStop team.
ITL also provide HP NonStop software in-house support and outsourced code maintenance (Guardian TAL, pTAL, TACL macros, COBOL85, SCOBOL, C, C++, third-party code libraries, Pathway start-up files etc.) for third-party NonStop products.
This includes the Thales e-Security Security Resource Manager (SRM) which provides a NonStop Pathway interface to Host Security Modules (HSMs) running in a cryptographic environment. ITL support SRM 24 x 7 and have tested this Pathway software on the NonStop Integrity platform on behalf of Thales e-Security.
ITL has introduced Agile development using the SCRUM framework methodology to give the company a highly flexible but well managed approach to HP NonStop product development and testing. ITL are also a HP business partner and quality certificated to ISO 9001:2008 and TickIT.
